In Honor Of Shelby....
A lot of you already know of my sister in law's recent battle with cancer. In honor of her strength and courage to smile in the face of adversity, I decided to grow out my hair and donate it to Locks of Love. I hope that it will give a young child somewhere the confidence and strength to smile in the face of their adversity. I'm so amazed at your strength Shelby. You are such an honorable person. You strengthen all our lives through your passion, humor and positive attitude. I wish I had been there to hold your hand and cry with you while you had your hair cut, but in light of your recent triumph over this cancer, let's smile together as we look to a bright future for you and your family. I love you, sister!

Let It Snow!!!!
It snowed in Georgia last night! I don't know if I've ever seen Max so happy! We ran around in it, threw some snowballs, then came inside for a fire and hot chocolate. It was even still there in the morning until about noon. Max's favorite part - eating it. And yes, he already had the lecture about not eating yellow snow a couple years ago at Papa Dave's house.

Baby It's Cold Outside..
It was chilly, but not too cold to enjoy an afternoon outside. So, we bundled up and enjoyed the dried dandelions, crunchy leaves and thanks to the bright sun, she found her shadow for the first time. It was hilarious. She'd lift her leg up and down and chase it and run away from it. Next time I think life stinks, I'm going to remember that feeling. Really, don't you think heaven will feel like the carefree freedom of playing with your own shadow?

Copying her brother
Ellie has been copying everyone lately....
She now says, "Mom?" to get my attention. When I say, "yes", she says, "Ummmmm...." then she'll look down at her feet and try to think of something else to say while bashfully smiling.
She's glad to announce when anyone has finished using the restroom. When she hears the toilet flush, she says, "All done poo!"

What I did and didn't do
What I didn't do today..
The Laundry
The Dishes
Put away Christmas Decorations - yes, they're still up
Anything from my to do list
Shower
What I did do....
Saw my daughter's first reaction to blowing the white blossoms off a dried dandelion for the first time - sheer amazement. She hasn't held that still in a long time.
Taught her how to hit a baseball with a bat - she wants to be just like her brother.
Enjoyed a beautiful day outside with her - upper 60's in January... Wow!
Watched her running circles in the court, shouting, "Run!" and laughing hysterically til she was so dizzy she fell over. And yes, she got up and did it again and again.
Drew chalk drawings on the driveway like I was 6 - quite therapeutic - I highly recommend it.
